Marlon Martinez is a virtuoso bassist who has toured with Stewart Copeland, Quatuor Ebène and Wild Up. Marlon studied classical bass at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, and jazz bass in New York City with Ron Carter. A disciple of Stanley Clarke, Marlon and his big band Marlonius Jazz Orchestra opened for Stanley and Hiromi at BroadStage in 2023. Marlonius Jazz Orchestra presents Marlon's original compositions and revitalizes the music of Billy Strayhorn, including newly discovered masterpieces. Marlon spoke at the Library Of Congress in 2023 at the Strayhorn Symposium: Known and Unknown as an authority on Billy Strayhorn.
