Marcello Carelli: “The Era” Debut Album Release Show

Marcello Carelli, drummer and composer, is an excellent new addition to the LA scene. He is currently getting his Master’s Degree at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music under the mentorship of Peter Erskine. Marcello has played with dinstinguished groups such as the Russell Ferrante Trio, the John Daversa Small Group, the Brian Lynch Artist Ensemble, the Frost Concert Jazz Band, and the Thornton Jazz Orchestra. He has also played with a variety of esteemed musicians including Ira Sullivan, Dave Liebman, Andy Fusco, Walt Weiskopf, Martin Bejerano, Wycliffe Gordon, and Shelly Berg.

This show will showcase Marcello’s original compositions and arrangements of standards which can be heard on his recent debut album release “The Era.” The album is a culmination of the music he has written over the past four years. You’ll be listening to some of LA’s finest young musicians, and there will be a very special guest featured on a few tunes as well. Martin Bejerano, pianist for Roy Haynes and Russell Malone, stated that “Marcello Carelli is a rare triple threat: talented drummer, bandleader, and composer, and it really shows in his wonderful debut album The Era.”
