Marcello Carelli Quartet Presents the Music of Joe Henderson feat. Russell Ferrante with Barclay Moffitt & Mike Gurrola

Drummer, composer, and arranger Marcello Carelli has played with Grammy award-winning musicians such as John Daversa and Brian Lynch in both small group and big band settings. He has also played with Dave Liebman, Ira Sullivan, Martin Bejerano, John Beasley, Walt Weiskopf, Andy Fusco, Wycliffe Gordon, Shelly Berg, and Troy Roberts. Marcello has also performed to sold-out crowds in Italy, Suriname, and the Netherlands in addition to giving masterclasses in those countries. He is also a Downbeat Award-Winning Composer and Arranger which you can hear on his debut record The Era.

In his fourth appearance at Sam First as a leader, Marcello Carelli will be paying homage to jazz saxophonist and composer Joe Henderson. His quartet will be playing arrangements of Joe's well known compositions as well as some of his uncommonly played tunes. Carelli will be joined by 2-time Grammy Award-winning pianist, composer, and co-founder of the Yellowjackets, Russell Ferrante, along with two of Los Angeles' finest young players, Barclay Moffitt (tenor saxophone), and Mike Gurrola (bass).
