Originally from Hartford, CT, Alden Hellmuth is currently pursuing her masters through the Herbie Hancock Institute at UCLA and has traveled and performed all over the globe with a variety of diverse projects including Dianne Reeves and Herbie Hancock (HHIJ US State Department Tour), Pablo Held, Dezron Douglas, Josh Evans, and Sara McDonald (The NYChillharmonic). Inspired by her upbringing in the jazz tradition and love for creative contemporary music, Alden’s compositions weave through written and improvised material to create complex sonic landscapes. Alden has been awarded a variety of opportunities including ASCAP’s Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award, the Focusyear Fellowship, New Music USA Next Jazz Legacy (semi-finalist), Women In Jazz Organization’s Mentorship Program, and the Dorothy Goodwin Fund.
